1. Project Overview

FeatureProbe
FeatureProbe is an open-source Feature Management service. It includes a range of feature-level management operations, such as gradual rollouts, A/B experiments, and real-time configuration changes. Here, "features" refer to any code-related functionality, including business features, technical improvements, and operational campaigns. It enables developers, operations personnel, and system administrators to safely and efficiently implement online changes while precisely controlling the risks associated with those changes. Feature-level release management is one of the core tools for implementing DevOps. Feature flags reduce the complexity of merging branches caused by feature branch development, making trunk-based development and continuous delivery easy to achieve.
Feature-level feature flag management services have become standard platforms at major internet companies. We have incorporated excellent practices and experience from internal feature flag management platforms at these companies into this open-source project. We hope to promote the widespread adoption ofFeature Managementconcepts and practices within the software development community, working together with the open-source community to improve efficiency across the software development industry.

4. Feature Overview
What Scenarios Is FeatureProbe Suitable For?
Based on our experience, FeatureProbe can improve software development efficiency in the following scenarios:
- "Feature-Level" Gradual Rollouts: Independently roll out each feature to users in stages. Quickly disable features affected by bugs without affecting the use of other functioning features.
- Reduce the Cost of Setting Up Test Environments: Save time and costs associated with setting up test environments and conducting offline tests. Use small-scale tests in the production environment to ensure realistic conditions while keeping the impact under control.
- Reduce Fault Recovery Time: When a fault occurs, adjust service behavior through degradation strategies to ensure that users' primary workflows remain unaffected.
- Simplify R&D Collaboration: Replace the traditional branch-based development collaboration model with feature toggles. Truly enable trunk-based development and continuous deployment. Reduce branch merge conflicts and significantly accelerate iteration speed.
- Unified Configuration Management Center: Manage production configurations centrally through a user-friendly interface. Modify feature parameters in real time to make launching operational campaigns easier.
- More Use Cases! We look forward to discovering and exploring more possibilities together with you.
