4. Feature Overview
PDF Guru is a general-purpose PDF processing tool featuring more than 20 commonly used functions, including PDF merging, splitting, rotation, watermarking, encryption, and conversion. It is completely open source and free for personal use, with a clean interface and simple operation.
Although there are many PDF processing tools available online, they all have certain drawbacks:
- Professional PDF editing software often charges fees or restricts features for more advanced functions such as adding watermarks and editing pages.
- Online PDF tool websites require uploading PDF files to servers for processing and downloading them afterward, posing a risk of privacy leaks.
- Although PDF processing libraries for various programming languages can implement some advanced features for free, they require programming experience and are less convenient than graphical applications.
- Some niche tools can meet specific requirements but offer relatively limited functionality.
Since PDF processing is a very common requirement, this project was created to overcome these limitations and improve work efficiency.
This project offers the following advantages:
- Fully Local Processing: No internet connection required, so there is no need to worry about privacy leaks.
- Rich Features: Supports more than 20 functions, including batch PDF merging, splitting, watermarking, encryption/decryption, extraction, and OCR recognition.
- Cross-Platform: Supports Windows, Mac, and Linux devices.
- Open-source and free
- Clean Interface and Easy to Use.
- Compact Size (~30M), portable with no installation required, and ready to use whenever needed.
- Plugin-Based: Choose whether to install additional components as needed to reduce the installation package size.
