Kafka is an open-source stream-processing platform developed by the Apache Software Foundation and written in Scala and Java. Kafka is a high-throughput distributed publish-subscribe messaging system that can process all activity stream data generated by consumers on websites. Such activities (including page views, searches, and other user actions) are key factors behind many social features on the modern web. Due to throughput requirements, this data is typically handled through log processing and log aggregation. Kafka provides a viable solution for log data and offline analysis systems such as Hadoop when real-time processing is also required. Its purpose is to unify online and offline message processing through Hadoop's parallel loading mechanism while providing real-time messaging through clustering.
ZooKeeper is a distributed, open-source coordination service for distributed applications. It is an open-source implementation of Google's Chubby and an important component of Hadoop and HBase. It provides consistency services for distributed applications, including configuration management, naming services, distributed synchronization, and group services.
Redis (Remote Dictionary Server) is an open-source, ANSI C-based, network-enabled, in-memory and persistent log-based Key-Value database that provides APIs for multiple programming languages.
