1. Project Overview

FeatureProbe
FeatureProbe is a feature-granular canary release platform. By using feature flags and gradual rollouts, it improves R&D efficiency and reduces release risks. FeatureProbe provides fine-grained, visualized management throughout the entire feature lifecycle, making it an essential tool for DevOps practices and continuous delivery.
FeatureProbe is an open-source feature management service. It provides a series of feature-level management operations, including gradual rollouts, A/B testing, and real-time configuration changes. Features include business functions, technical improvements, marketing campaigns, and any other code-related capabilities. It enables developers, operations personnel, and system administrators to perform production changes safely and efficiently while precisely controlling change risks. Feature-level release management is one of the core tools for implementing DevOps. Feature flags reduce the complexity of merging changes caused by branch-based development, making trunk-based development and continuous delivery easy to achieve.
Feature flag management services have become standard platforms at major internet companies. This open-source project incorporates the best practices and experience gained from internal feature flag management platforms at these companies. We hope to promote the adoption of feature management concepts and practices throughout the software development community and work together with the open-source community to improve software development efficiency.

4. Feature Overview
What scenarios is FeatureProbe suitable for?
Based on our experience, FeatureProbe can improve software development efficiency in the following scenarios:
-
Feature-granular canary releases: Release each feature independently to users through gradual rollouts. Quickly disable features affected by bugs without affecting the use of other functioning features.
-
Reduce test environment setup costs: Save the time and costs associated with setting up test environments and conducting offline testing. Use small-scale traffic in production for testing, with a realistic environment and controllable impact.
-
Reduce incident recovery time: When an incident occurs, adjust service behavior through fallback strategies to ensure that users' primary workflows remain unaffected.
-
Simplify development collaboration: Replace traditional branch-based team collaboration with feature flags. Truly achieve trunk-based development and continuous deployment. Reduce branch merge conflicts and significantly accelerate iteration.
-
Unified configuration management center: Manage production configurations centrally through a user-friendly interface. Modify feature parameters in real time and make marketing campaigns easier to launch.
-
More use cases! We look forward to discovering and exploring them together with the community.
