What Does n8n Stand For?
Short Answer: It stands for "nodemation", pronounced as n-eight-n.
Long Answer: "I get asked this question quite often (more frequently than I expected), so I decided it would be best to answer it here. When looking for a good name for a free domain for the project, I quickly realized that all the good names I could think of were already taken. So, in the end, I chose nodemation. 'node-' refers to its use of a node-based interface and Node.js, while '-mation' means 'automation', which is what this project aims to help with. However, I didn't like how long the name was, and I couldn't imagine typing such a long name in the CLI every time. That's when I eventually settled on 'n8n'." - Jan Oberhauser, Founder and CEO, n8n.io
